BOWLING TOURNAMENT

CENTRE'S EASTER EVENT

TODAY'S RESULTS

Play today in the Wellington Bowling Centre's Easter tournament, which is being continued on the Kelburn, Wellington (lower), and Newtown greens, had many interesting features, not the least of which, was the fall of some of the rinks which had gone through yesterday's play unbeaten. After the fourth round of games today the only unbeaten rink was that skipped by T. Adams (Karori) j playing in section B. jiules are being applied strictly, and in. two games on the Kelburn green play was ordered to cease when the time .limit of. 2| hours had been reached. In one of these games Nasmith (Karori) was fighting hard to retain his unbeaten ;reeord. Ho required only one pqint on the last head for a tie with Glee. (Island Bay), but time beat him. Brighting" (Hataitai) and Naylor ■ (Thorndon) also engaged in a stern tussle, and . they still had three baads to play when ,Jho closure- was applied, Xaylor then being in front. ■ . . ■ .On each of the greens there were ;other close contests, just as there were some runaway victories, and in some cases performance showed a remarkable reversal of that displayed yesterday. For instance, Priddle (Island Bay), unbeaten, yesterday,: went down rather heavily to George (Lyallßay), and just ; as surprising, if not more so, was the sound defeat of .Brackenridge (Lyall Bay) by Hale (Island Bay), Brackenridge having previously been unbeaten. Wins by very big margins in the fourth round were scored by Lett (Masterton Park) Tand Eoberts (Hataitai). It is many years since the centre staged an Easter links' tournament, and the .revival is being favoured with ideal weather, the conditions today 'being perfect. The tournament is being handled with that efficiency which makes for success, with Mr. L. MeNab'b (secretary) doing the detailed work. Headquarters were at Thorndon yesterday, and for today and on Monday they are at Wellington. The fifth •and. sixth rounds are being played this afternoon, .and section play will conclude on Monday with three more . rounds, ■ when' section A will be at Wellington (upper), section B at Victoria, and section oat Karori. Postsection play-throughi.to the final is to •take-place at Hataitai on Tuesday and Wednesday. :'. :. ~■' ■-.■■• ... r ;THB RESULTS. .
