DAIRY EXPORT INQUIRY

DELEGATION TO ENGLAND

DOMINION TO DECIDE *

(By Telegraph-Press Association.) . CHRISTCHUKCH, This Day. That investigation of its dairy produce business in Britain was New Zealand's own affair, to bo inquired into in whatever manner the Dominion thought fit/was emphasised by the Prime Minister in an interview.

Mr. Forbes was commenting on a statement current in Wellington that the British, authorities had requested the New Zealand Government not to send any delegation representing the dairy industry to England at present, as the British Government would bo inconvenienced in its consideration of import restrictions.

No such message had been received by the Government, said Mr. Forbes. It was highly improbable that any such suggestion would ever come from any official quarter in England- If. New Zealand wished to inquire into her own business it could do so in whatever manner it decided was fitting. In any case, he added, such a suggestion.'would be premature, as it had not been decided to send to England a delegation representing the dairy interests. All that had happened was that the dairy conference had passed a resolution requesting that something of this nature be done, and this proposal had ■been further discussed by the Dairy Pa-oduce Control Board. The matter would be discussed again at a meeting of the board on April 12. ' Whatever was done towards sending a; delegation to England, it was'expected that the dairy industry should cooperate with the Government, so that if representatives were sent abroad they would have some authority. The Government would certainly want any such delegation to be' accompanied by an official representative or adviser.
