CONFERENCE IN WELLINGTON
The fifth annual congress of the N,ew Zealand branch of tho British-Israel World Federation was opened today in the conference hall, A.M.P.; buildiug. Delegates attended from the. different centres, of the Dominion. The conference was the largest yet-held, • Mr. C. W. Clift, JSTcw Zealand president, occupied the chair.
■ Messages of. congratulation were read from the Federation headquarters, London, the British Columbia Federation, tho New South Wales branch, tho Et. Hon.. G. W. Forbes (Prime Minister), Sir Andrew. Eussell, and others. The letter from London congratulated the New Zealand branch on'its riipid progress and conferred upon the branch official status for the control of BritishIsrael work in the Dominion.
Arrangements are in hand-for a visit from the Rev. Dr. Pascoe- Goard, P.R.A.S.J F.8.E.5., who is considered the greatest-living authority on BritishIsrael truth.
In the course of his address the president said that reports to hand from the sub-branches throughput the Dominion showed an .increase in membership of one hundred' per' cent., and that the number of centres had been doubled. Mr. Clif£ outlined the work of tho year, and suggested the initiation of plans for an even greater forward movement. Ho said that -the 'question of'literature for free distribution was becoming increasingly serious. Bequests for larger ana more-frequent •supplies had1 been forwarded to headquarters in London. In the. course of the-meeting it was demonstrated that there was an urge for a wider expression and application of British-Israel truth as applying to matters material. - This was shown by the commencement in London of the movement which had its origin within the World Federation, and which aimed at direct action in regard to economic affairs—a movement the head of which was Major Morane Bray, 0.8. E., M.C. Tho conference will continue next week.
