l\acing in the lrar South during the holidays -will bo conducted by the Kiverton, Tuapeka, and Beaumont Clubs. 13j: far the most inixiortant of these fixtures is thu Kiverton Kacing Club's Annual Meetiiifr, ■ which extends over Saturday, Jlonday, and Tuesday, and which is ranked among the foremost gatherings; of tiie season in Southland and Otasro. The j Tuapeka Meeting will also be held on I Saturday, and the Beaumont Sleeting follows on Monday, these two clubs not having combined, as they did last year. The prize-money a,t Kivevton is always generous, and this year several increases in stakes have been made, so that, for example, no event on the 'opening day carries an offering of less than £110. The gold trophy customarily attached to the Cup lias been replaced with its equivalent value (£100) in specie, providing a full specie prize of .£450. The club holds a rather analogous position in the south to what the Te Aroha Club does in the north. ' . 12.25:' Waiau Steeples;—Dunmore and Speakeasy. ■ • 1.10: Aparinui Handicap.—Gold Paper and Master Anomaly.. 1.50: Longwood Hack Handicap.—Silver Sight, Conca D'Oro, and Last Link, 2.30: Eiverton Ciip.—Ventrac, Chhota, and Steeton-Congh bracket. 3.10: Great Western Steeples.—Nylotis and Quinopal. ■.■".. ■ ■ ■ ' ' 3.55: Visitors' Handicap.—Cherry Queen, Amelita, and Slaemish. 4.30: Pourakino Handicap.—Kerbside, Kamal Pasha, and Steeton.
