Although transacting business for "but four and a,'half daj-s this week the stock exchanges of the Dominion have reported a good turnover as the sales hereunder will ;show; moreover,' the interest of- investors has been fairly • widespread, from gilt-edged to mining. Government loans are "most firmly held, bank shares are on a .steady, market, and insurance company shares remain at high levels. The appreciation in values of shares at the close of the first quarter of this year, compared with highest prices at this time in 1933, is shown in the following table:—
