HOLIDAY ATTEACTIONS
THE BRITISH COURT
The chief attraction at the Wellington Easter Show over the holidays will be the. stock fair, which is to be held on Saturday and Monday. The entries in the horso classes are larger than an. previous years, and competition is expected to- be very keen. Some very find animals will be exhibited, particularly,, horses from the Wairaraj>a. " The pony classes, too, will be very strong, some outstanding animals having been entered. Great interest will be centred on the jumping events, for which many lady -riders have entered. In this section Clinker and many other 3S Tew Zealand champion jumpers will- be seen. The- cattle classes are also strong. This year the City Council 's Milk Department ia. presenting a challenge cup, valued at twenty guineas, for the best dairy cow, any age, breed, or cross, from a nerd supplying milk to the.department. The grand parade of stock will take place on Easter Monday, also the Dominion ladies' jumping competition. No extra charge will be made to witness the jumping events.' . The show is attracting satisfactory attendances each evening, and visitors generally express, appreciation of the novel lay-out. The prestige of British goods is reflected in the large crowds that inspect the British court, which is an attractive and highly desirable feature of the show. This prestige, however, has been built up and maintained in the quality and value for mbney of the goods themselves. The- trade displays on the whole are most arresting, some of the stands having been arranged in a manner which does credit to the exhibitors. Many novel ideas have been used, and visitors cannot help but be interested in them. - ' ■ . The entertainment side of the show has been well attended to. In addition to the many and varied sideshows, special features arc provided each evening. Last evening a large crowd witnessed the second round of the interhouse girls' marching competition, and they showed their appreciation of the colourful display in a. manner which it fully deserved. Further performances of this interesting. competition will be given on April 3, 5, and 7. An attractive programme has been arranged for tonight in the stadium, when local vaudeville artists will bo seen in a'variety show.
