SONG RECITAL
■A very successful recital -\vas given in he Town Hall Concert Chamber.last everi-
ing by Jliss Doris Black. The dramatic | quality of her fine soprano voice was heard to advantage in a number' of operatic excerpts and songs. The "Aye Maria" from Verdi's "Othello," "Jeanne. DAre" •(Tschaikowsky), Rachmaninoff's. ;"To:the Children," and Cesar Francis's. "Fanis. Angelius," the latter with a Violoncello obbligato, were among the most ■ successful numbers. Delightful also were three lieder by Hugo Wolf, "Vedrai Carino" from Mozart's "Don Giovanni,'" "Gather-, ing Berries" from Rinisky-Korsakpv's "The' Snow Maiden," and -Pergolesi's' "Gentle Shepherd." In response to demands for an encore several otjier numbers were sung, these including the old English
'•Gathering Daffodils," Cyril Scott's "Don?t Come In, Sir," and "Someone," by Maurice Besley. -'}'-
Hiss Ormi Reid assisted with some excellent 'cello solos which included Max Bruch's "Kol Nidrei," Faure's "Sicilienne,"
."Orientale" (Cvi), "Nina" (Pergolesiji and JloszUowski's "Guitame." Miss Nora Gray! was the perfect accompanist throughout:
