KARORI CLUB'S' TITLES
The Karori- Lawn Tennis Club, though not, competing in the Wellingtonj Association's, matches, has had a very full season so far as internal activities are concerned. Members ha\*e displayed plenty of enthusiasm for the ladder and championship competitions, and. though the club has no really outstanding players, the general standard of play has been good. It is expected to complete the championship matches within, the .nest two weeks, each section having*, .been advanced to the semi-final or final stage. In the men's singles D.- G. Cooper has reached the final and will meet the winner of the semi-final between C. Mclrityre and V. Thomas, who created, something of-a surprise by defeating D. Melntyre, junior. Miss M. Akel, who has been playing some excellent tennis, has reached tho final of the women's singles, in which she will meet Miss M. Macfarlane, one of the club's most improved players this season and'at present at the* head of the women's ladder. In the men's donbles" D. G. Cooper and D. Melntyre, junior, will meet S. Fernandez and G. Scott in the final, which will probably be played this weekend. The finalists in the women's doubles are Misses M. Akel and A. Kean, and Hisses E. Bead aiid V. Gray. The mixed doubles final will be between D. G. Cooper_aiul Miss M. Macfarlane, and S. Fernandez and Miss E. Bead. ■
