Kilbirnie, Petone, and Wellington all have prospects of gaining the premiership, and.for absolute security .Petone and Wellington could do with an outright win, though Kilbirnie would remain on top with a five-pointer. Petone have "to beat Kilbirnie and see , -Wellington beaten at the same time to \gain the championship, but ai firstinnings' win would bring Petone on even terms with Kilbirnie, in which case Wellington, with a five-pointer over ;Wellington College Old Boys, .would win the championship. Kilbirnie can still be in the running with a loss on the first innings, but Petone and Wellington must both win. The possibilities are many, and much depends upon the result of play today.
