BOY'S CABLE STITCH PULLOVER

Materials: 4oz of 3-plywool, l^air of No. 13 Jand 1 pair of No. 10 knitting needles.' Four 3SJ6. 13 needles, with points at both ends. Measurements: Width all: round-at under arm, 22 inches. Under 'arm sleeve seam, 12£ inches. Length from shoulder to cast, on, 15J inches. ' The Back: Using No. 13 needles, cast on S9 stitches. Proceed to work in rib of K. 1, P. 1, for 3 inches. Change to No. 10 needles and pattern. . Ist row: • K. 1, p. 2, k. 6, p. 2, repeat from •to the last stitch, k. 1. 3rd row: K. 3, p. 6, * k. 5, p. 6, repeat from ♦ to last 3 stitches, k. 3. Repeat these 2 rows twice. 7th row: • k. 1, p. 2, using: a spare needle with points at both ends, slip the next 3 stitches on to it, allow this needle to fall to back of work, knit the next 3 stitches, bring ;the. spare netdle forward and knit the 3 slipped stitches, li. 2, repeat from *to last" stitch, k. 1. Bth row: Same as 2nd row. 9th row: Same as Ist row. 10th row: Same as 2nd row. Repeat these ■JO rows 5 times, then from the Ist to the Bth 'row once. Shape for Armholes: Cast oft i stltche3 at the beginning of the next two rows and k. 2 tog. at each end of the needle in the next -and

every alternate row until 71 stitches remain. Keeping continuity of pattern, work without shaping until 12 full patterns have been worked from the commencement. .■Shape for Shoulders: Ist row: Work to within 8 stitches of armholo edge, turn. 2nd row: Same as Ist row. 3rd row:' Work to ■within 10 stitches of .armholo edge, turn. 4th row: Same as 3rd row. sth row: Work riant across. 6th row: Work to end of needle, "tn row: Cast off in pattern. : The Front: Using No. 13 needles, cast on S9 stitches.
