Stained Tiles
Modern pastel-coloured hearth tiles rapidly show stains of all kinds, a number of which cannot be removed by washing (states a correspondent). The most frequent hearth stains are those caused by a carelessly thrown cigarette end which is allowed to burn out on the tiles. The best way to remove these stains is to,apply a little turpentine on a small pioce of _ rag. Hub it well in, anA the stains will disappear. A thin coat of polish will, preserve' the tiles and guard against permanent stain's. ■
