POST OFFICE ARRANGEMENTS

When tlio Faith iv Australia crosses tho Tasman "Sea .on her return journey she will carry tho first air mail from New Zealand to Australia.. ■ '

' Letters to be sent by' the air mail must bear ordinary postage, plus an airmail fco at the rate of 6d for each, halfounce. Thus tho charge for an ordinary letter not exceeding half an ounce will be 7d, and as tho mail will be the first one to bo made up by tho New Zealand Post Office for conveyance by air across the Tasman, tho issue of a special stamp of that denomination has been authorised. The design will .bo tho existing 7d Now Zealand air-mail stamp printed iii a different colour and.boaring a special overprint. The stamp'will be available towards the end of nest week.

Letters to be carried by the flight should bear tho usual special blue^ airmail label to bo obtained at post offices, and be inscribed "Per Faith in Australia."

■Correspondence diroctod to New Zealand addresses will >be accepted for the mail provided 2d additional postage is prepaid in Australian postage stamps to cover return by ordinary mail from Australia. Australian stamps for this purpose may bo purchased at post offices'; To idontif y covers with the flight,' an impression of a ■ special rubber stamp will bo made by tho Post Office on each letter. All postmarking will be undertaken by means 'of hand date-stamps: The quantity of matter which call be carried in the mail is limited to about 5001b. Consequently, letters only .will be accepted; and, if the' machine is unable to carry all the letters offering, priority will1 bo given in- accordance wtyh date of posting. ' Special souvenir envelope* will be obtainable at post offices.
