WELLINGTON' R.S.A.
ROSE DAY ALLOCATION
The Wellington branch of the R.S.A, met last evening, Colonel A. Cowles presiding.
It was decided to allocate the Rose Day collection (£515 17s 4d) as follows:—15 per cent. for administration; 50 per cent, of the remainder to be retained by the association; the. remaining 50 per cent, to be disposed of by 40 per cent, to the Women's National Reserve, 25 per cent, to the St. John Ambulance Association, 10 per cent, to the Red Cross Society, and 25 per cent, either in response to the South African veterans' appeal, the circumstances of which are to be investigated by the finance coiuntittce, or if, after investigation it is decided not to devote this money to'the South African veterans, the sum to be disposed of at the discretion of the committee.
It was resolved that the staff vacation dates be from December 23 to January 9. A grant of £50 was authorised to the Tin Hat Club, the chairman asking all members to support this 'organisation* which would tend to place the R.S.A. before the public in the true light. ; A grant of £10 for. Christmas cheer, with the Wellington bVauch's best seasonal wishes, was authorised for the Upper' Hutt branch. It was stated that there were some 100 men unemployed there, and though some were on the borderline in' the matter of* keeping themselves, about 80 of the men were in a less" favourable position to earn money than men in the city districts.
Including 77 members who have parti/ paid up their subscriptions, and 56 who linve paid up since November 30; 1933, when tlie membership was 765, it was stated that there were 898 members of the association. The membership at November 30, 1932, was 556.
