DIALECT SONGS AND PLAYS
The annual "Ladies' Night" in connection with the Yorkshire Society of New Zealand was held recently in the Farmers' Union Institute Conference Hall, which was most effectively decorated for the occasion by Mr.' A. E. Caisley. ... The president, Mr. Karl Atkinson, welcomed one hundred and fifty members and friends.
A lino and varied programme was provided by Miss Molly Atkinson, Messrs. Eoy Hill and M. Cachmaille (songs), Mr. E. Bold (dialect reading), Mrs. Margaret Macpherson (talk on a Yorkshire woman's impressions on revisiting her native country), and a oner act dialect play reading by Mr. and Mrs. Victor Lloyd and Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Ecnder. ' Miss Catherine Moncricff was accompanist. Dialect songs and humorous sketches were presented by means of gramophone records by John Henry and,. "Blossom," Sandy Powell, and Company, Stuart Eobertson, and Ernest Butcher. ...... ,
Christmas hymns were sung by all the company, and an excellent supper concluded a memorable function.
