BENEFIT CONCERT.

1 The final concert held in the Kilbirnie Klneau by the U.S.A. Kilbirnie lirandi and the Jlittmar Silver Band was pronounced a ifi-eat success, judging by the applause all1 tho artists and the baud received. Little Violet Compton cleverly recited "The Dawn Wind" and vris encored. Mr. Jenkins was warmly received for his sineing of "Waiata Maori" and "The Locust." Master Kenneth Bruce cave the elocutionary items "Old Chap" and "Brok'd," and his brother Allan "The Ballad of Sir John Bruce" and "When Father Carved the Duck." The piano duet, "Second Ithausodie," played liy Miss Vera Boesley and Miss Beth Maplesden, was much appreciated. Louie Compton (2ZW "Song; Bird") sang at her best, witb^ violin obbligato by .Tean Hooker, "A Little Street Where Old Friends Meet," "A Brown Bird Slnßliiß," and'"Bird Songs at Eventide." Miss Josie Bert! played a 'cello solo, "Consolation," and was encored. Mr. Arthur Haley, for his songs "When the Sergeant Major's on Farade" and "The Floral Dance," received overwhelming applause. Under the baton of Mr. R. A. Sutherland, the band played the hymn "Pax Del" (Mr. Sutherland's own arrangement), and the innrches "Howitzer" »nd "Red Star," the selection, "Musical Memories" and waltz, "Juliana." For the live concerts the audiences have been below expectations in erery case, but the average donations are very satisfactory. Approximately £11 will be handed over for charities. •
