A FAST TIME
AUSTRALIAN RECORD
(Received December IS, 9 a.m.) SYDNEY, December 17. T. E. Hampson ran a hundred metres in 10 9-10 see at the Sydney sports ground. The time is one-tenth.of a second faster than J. A. Carlton's Australian and New South Wales record.
Hampson is one of three Australian athletes who have been invited to visit New ZeMand this athletic season on a tour opening at Waimate on February 21. He was selected to replace J. Horsfall, the Victorian sprinter, who is proceeding to Cambridge University in January. Hampson has been acclaimed as the successor to the brilliant J. A. Carlton, whose 100 metres record he has broken.
