SHIELD AND CASKET

The teams to represent Wellington in defence of the-Anthony AVilding Jlemorial Shield and the Kathleen Nunnoley Casket were picked b; the selectors yesterday. The teams .-.re a- follows:— AVilding Jlemorial Shield: C. E. Malfroy, R. JlcL. Ferkins (captain), l._. A. Roussell, R. Howe. Emergency, N. Smith. Nunnoley Casket, at AVellington: Miss D. Nicholls (captain), Jliss JI. AVhyte, Jliss D. Howe, Jliss JI. AVhisker. At Christchurch: Mrs. H. M. Dykes, Jliss D. Nicholls (captain), JliBS JI. AVhyte, Jliss M: AVhisker. Tlie AVilding Jlemorial Shield team was picked after a final series of matches in which N. Smith (Thorndon) was tested out against all his rivals for the team. R. JlcL. Perkins beat him, 8-2, 6-2; •E. A. Roussell beat him, 6-2, 6-2; and R. Howe beat him, 6-4, 2-6, 6-1. The doubles combinations will be Malfroy and Ferkins, and Roussell and Howe. D. G. France was not available. The position of ■ the Nunneley Casket matches is somewhat.involved. The team chosen to play-at Wellington will meet a fairly strong Wanganui-Taranaki side at Jliramar .Grounds, n.ext .Friday and Saturday. For this match Jlrs. H. JI. Dykes is not available,, as she is . leaving for Christchurch early -this week."
