WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

BELMONT OUTDOOR MEETING

Mrs. Andrews, of Hill Koad, lent her spacious grounds for the recent outdoor meeting of the Belmont Women's Institute, and a delightful afternoon was spent in. ideal weather. Mrs. Moran (president) welcomed all present. A letter containing Christmas greetings was read from Mrs. Natusch (an old member of the institute now residing in Gisborne). • Two link letters were read from Sawston, Cambs, England. These links from, overseas are most interesting and keep institutes in touch Avith activities in other parts of the world. Members then formed themselves into groups to consider suggestions for the improvement of the institute in the coming year, this being an excellent method of finding out the wishes of the members. The committee acted as hostesses, and presented each member present with a little gift. A roll call caused much amusement, and was won by Mrs. Loughlin. After a hearty: vote of thanks to Mrs. Andrews had been proposed by Mrs. McClurg, the president replied. The institute children's party Avas 'held'ou December 9 in the grounds of Mr. Preston Thomas, near the Belmont Men's Hall. After games, races, etc., which -were in charge of the members' husbands, tea was served in the hall and Christmas presents distributed to each child.
