Holders, of preference shares in J. C. Williamson, Ltd., at a meeting in Sydney last week approved of the scheme submitted by the directors in relation to the company's preference shares. The proposals placed before.the meeting, at which Jlr.' F., J. Smith took the chair, asked preference shareholders, among other things, to cancel arrears of dividend up to June.3o,' 1933, and to accept, as from that date, a cumulative preferential dividend of 7 .per cent, per annum with the right of participating up to 8 per cent, when ordinary shareholders receive a greater dividend than 7 per cent. In addition, to admit of dividends being paid, the balance of £52,162 standing to the debit of the profit and loss account as at June 30 should be extinguished by the transfer of au equal amount from reserves.
The proposals, which were given almost unanimous approval by the Sydney section of the preference shareholders, will be considered at another informal meeting of preference shareholders in Jlelbourne.'
