GOOD FISHING
ON THE TONGARIRO
(By Telearaph.) (Special to the "Evening Post.") TURANGI, December r*. The exceptionally dry weather experienced over the last few weeks has considerably reduced the level of, the Tongariro River, and at present it is lower than it has been at any time, during tlie last few years. 'Curiously enough, however, the fishing this December has been much better than during the same month in previous years, and although it is rather early to expect really good river fishing, a number of fresh-run trout are being taken as far up as Kowhai Flat. As is usually the case in December, there are very few rods on the river, but all the fishermen are enjoying very good' sport. Guests at Taylor's Camp during the past week include Mr., and Mrs. Geo. L. Wood and Captain and Mrs. Vibart, of England, all of whom, are very pleased with the fishing. Mr. and Mrs. Wood have taken upwards of 60 .fish in ten days, while Captain Vibart succeeded in maintaining an average of four fish a day for two weeks. Trolling parties at Motuopa Bay. are now doing well. The two best catches reported from there are Mr. Kilmister and party (100 fish in four days) and Jlr. Hughes and party, of Paraparaumu (68 fish in five days), the heaviest fish being 831b.
