A TASMAN RECORD
The previous best time for the Auckland to Sydney voyage was established by the Monterey in June last year. The American mail liner , Mariposa,
which arrived in Sydney on December 4, beat it by more than an hour, making the trip from Auckland in the record time of 61 hours 14 minutes. Excellent ocean conditions were encountered throughout the journey across the Tasman Sea, and the liner was able to maintain an average speed of1 20.17 knots. ■
