(By Telegraph.—Tress Association.) ASHBTIKTON, December 15. A new menace, which a prominent farmer 'considers will destroy the greater part of the oat crops of the I district, has been discovered in the Pendarves area. From the knives of ' a binder he scraped a small quantity of grass and chips of oat stalks, and among it there were thousands of small grubs, miniatures of the . caterpillars which some weeks ago were- seen in the district pastures. At the time the caterpillar plague was at its height one farmer. ■ stated that the r,eal trouble would develop later, and ho stated today that the now plague is the result he had in mind. He has put his oat crops to the binder several days before they normally would have been cut, as ho considers that the grubs would otherwise cut the stalks of the crop ami destroy it to a .large extent.
