"AN- URGENT MATTER"
TECHNICAL COLLEGE ACCESS
The access problem at the Wellington Technical College was referred to at the break-up ceremony 'yesterday by the principal (Mr. E. G. Kidling), who said that at present the college was entirely dependent upon the courtesy of the contractor who was erecbing the National Memorial Museum and Art Gallery for access at the front. Otherwise the whole block., of buildings in which the school's work was carried out would be in a cul de sac which was a source of danger to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. It was essential that there should be a permanent right of entry to the college fromBuckle Street, past the Carillon tower, and from Tasman Street. For months negotiations had been proceeding, but .up tothe-present they had proved abortive. "These entries must be sectired for all time," he said, "and we ask the assistance of the civic authorities and the public in obtaining a settlement of this urgent matter."
