Mending Towels
Towels, like sheets, may bo turned sides to middle when they show.^igns of wear, and there are two satisfactory methods of doing this, states the "Manchester Guardian." Neither leaves an uncomfortable ridge. If the edges are inclined to fray, turn, in that on one side, lay it over the other, and machine it down; turn in the second side, and machine that. If the edges are perfect, machine them in this manner without turning. The second method is to lay the edges together and machine strong wide tape over them on both sides. After splitting the towel open, bind the raw edges.
Up to the time of the Reformation in the sixteenth century, Christian churches throughout Europe were considered too sacred for weddings and these ceremonies had to be performed just outside the front door.
