EDUCATION STAFF CUT
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) INVERCAKGILL, December 15. The second cut in. salaries, imposed in 1931, on the office staff of the Southland Education Board will bo restored from January 1. This decision was reached at. a meeting of the board today. ■ • ■ A more far-reaching Tccommendar tion that the Government be urged to restore the second cut suffered by, teachers, after being discussed in committee, was held over until the board's meeting on January 26.' 'Mr. H. Smith, who acted as chairman while the board was in committee, said: "I don't think it wise to reduce the pay of efficient officers. There has been no time,, at which efficiency/ was more neaessary than"at present, and' our staff does its work with excellent efficiency." ,
