ELECTION OF CANON
(Special to the "Evening Post.") NELSOX, December 14. At a jofnt meeting of the Chapter and standing committee of the Nelson Diocese, the Rev. John William Bloyce, vicar of Westport, was elected a canon of the Cathedral. Ordained in 1916, the Rev. Mr. Bloyce was in charge of the Miiisden Mission on the West' Const. He was vicar of Reef ton ■ from 1922 to 1925, and became vicar of Westport in succession to Canon Coursey. . . ' A special session of the Diocesan Synod was held today for the purpose of electing a successor to Bishop Saldier, who is retiring next year.. The' Rev. A. M. Cowie, vicar o£ Khahdnllah, who was appointed by the Archbishop of New Zealand to be his commissary, presided.
