RETIRED TEACHERS
RIGHT TO RE-ENGAGEMENT
(By Telegraph.—i'resa Association.)
DUNEDIN, December 13. Referring to the provisions of the Education Amendment Bill, Mr. Wallace, chairman of the Otago Education , Board, said, it was 'proposed that no person receiving a retiring allowance from the teachers' superannuation fund should be eligible for appointment, as a teacher in a public school. This, he said, was simply another nibble at the conscience and prerogatives of the Education Board. He quoted cases where teachers retiring on superannuation were continuing as relieving teachers. It was decided that the chairman should telegraph, a protest to the Minister of Education.
