HUTT RIVER BOARD

The fortnightly meeting o£ the Hutt River Board was held yesterday."Present: Mr. F. J. Jones (chairman) and Messrs. J. Brasel! and J. Mitchell. It was decided to sink an artesian bore on tho bonrd's property nt Taita, leaving the question of purchasing a pumping plant, if found necessary, in the hands of the chairman and Mr.. Brasell. The board decided that it will, not consider any reduction in royalty charges for shingle. < A- return presented by its secretary compared the receipts for the past eight months with those of the corresponding period last year, the latter figures being in parentheses, as follows:—Kates, £2070 (£2447); royalties, £348 (£204); rents, £327 (£480); sundry sales, £43 (£B).. The board's expenditure was shown to be well within its estimates. About £200 more has been spent in works and maintenance than during tlie same period Just year; this is accounted for by the amount spent on raising the stopbanks out of revenue. Administration costs for tho eight months were £542 in 1932 and £518 this year. The total amount spent during the last eight months -was £0033, as against £5618 in 1932.
