A'Maori, Thompson' Waiwiri, aged 20, pleaded ■ guilty- to a charge of intoxication while id charge of a motor-lorry, and was fined £20 by Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M.. today, and prohibited from holding a licence for twelve months. It was revealed that Waiwiri had never held * licence. He admitted having 15 bandies of beer in a few hours at Manaia township prior to a collision with a stationary' vehicle. He contended that the collision ■was due to defective steering gear.
