ROADS TO NATIONAL PARK

A party of Wanganui motorists who went through tho Tongariro National Park during the weekend, via the Parapara Eoad, and returned via the To-kaanu-Waiouru-Desert Boadj3, report that tho roads are in fair drder at present. The Parapara is very rough in parts, due to the dry weather and the heavy motor traffic lately, there having been thousands of bales of wool "brought over this Toad to Wanganui in the past few weeks. The road beyond Raetihi through National Park is in 'very good order, and the load on the eastern side of Euapehu across the desert is better than it has been for many years past. There are two graders at work on this road, and most of the old box culverts have been replaced. Tho run from Tokaanu to Waiouru took two hours without undue speed. The Wangaehu Valley Koad from Karioi via Mangamahu is in a good state of repair, but in many partß it is narrow and calls for , careful driving at the bends. " ..
