A ROTARY CHRISTMAS

MANY HAPPY CHILDREN

No one doubts that Rotary is a cheerful thing, and the luncheon party given by Wellington Rotarians to the children of >the orphanages yesterday wa* a -particularly bright function.. There were guests from the Salvation Army, Levin and Presbyterian homes, and i* was a matter of comment how healthy and happy the young ones looked, The decorations were suited to the season, and bright caps added to the pleasure of the children. The chairman (Mr. C. J. B. Norwood) welcomed the young folk cordially, and spoke of the general work of the club, mentioning ■ the correspondence with boys who had been former guests, and who kept up their interest. After an excellent luncheon had been enjoyed (accompanied by gifts which gave great pleasure), Mr. Clement May gavo a charming little poem by A. A. Milne, and a scene from Dickens's '' Christmas Carol,'' accompanied by bells'and the singing of carols by a Botarian choir. It was all effective and much enjoyed by the guests. The children from each orphanage gave chorusf songs in. excellent style, and were warmly applauded, a Maori song being particularly attractive. Ice creams and bright cases of chocolates were distributed last of all, and the children departed after a perfectly wonderful time.
