SENTENCE OF DEATH
JAMES TOLD OF FINAL DECISION
In the condemned cell, which he has occupied since he wag convicted' of the murder of Mrs. Cecilia Smith * on June 30, George Edward James was told last evening of the Executive Council's decision not to interfere with the carrying out of the death sentence. He was also informed that the sentence ■would be carried out on Friday. James, who had been led to expect the worst, took the decision calmly, and made no reply. > .
The warrant, signed by the .GovernorGeneral, stating that the sentence would stand, was received by the Sheriff, Mr. W. W. Samson, at 5.15 p.m. yesterday.
