REVEMUE INCREASING

FOUR-WEEKLY PERIOD

Preliminary figures showing the results of the operation of the railways for the four-weekly period ended November 11, 1933, were announced today by Mr. H. H. Sterling, chairman of the Government Eailways Board.

Gross revenue for the four-weekly period showed an increase of £33,941 as compared with the corresponding period of the previous financial year. Operating expenditure increased by £1848, leaving an increase of net revenue of £32,093. For the portion of the financial year from April 1 to November 11 the gross revenue shows an increase of £51,912 and expenditurea decrease of £45,700, leaving an increase in net revenue for the portion of the year up to the date mentioned of £97J612as compared with the corresponding portion of the previous financial year. .
