YACHTING TRIALS

Two preliminary Sanders Cup trials were held at Paremata on Sunday afternoon, after wbiehj, as has already been announced, the, Avalon was selected to represent the Paremata Boating Club in the main trials. •

The first trial started at the clubhouse and finished at Moorehouse's buoy. There was a fresh southerly: breeze blowing, and both boats carried just too little weight. The Xavina, wlvich has been selected to represent the Royal Port .Nicholson Yacht Club in the main trials, carried Wellington's colours at the last Sanders Cup contest at Lyttelton, when she won two races. N. D. Blair sailed,.the boat at Lyttelton and he will also be the /skipper in the forthcoming trials. He is the commodore of the R.P.N.Y.C; It was largely due to his report on the lessons learned at the last contest that the system^ of holding preliminary trials this season was inaugurated.
