YOUNG MAN'S SUICIDE
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) BLENHEIM, November 9. A verdict of suicide while of unsound mind was returned by the Coroner, Mr. E. J. Hill, at the inquest into the death of Hugh Lancelot Wedde, aged 22, who was found dead in the strongroom of Wright, Stephenson's office on Tuesday. Evidence was given that Wedde was on the verge of a nervous breakdown at the end of last year and was given special leave, but it was noticeable occasionally that he had not quite recovered. • Lois Isabel Marple, the firms typist, gave evidence that Wedde was worried over his health and thought he might have a tubercular affection in a foot which had been injured in an accident some years ago Wedde pUid her attentions for some time, but she told him they were .unwelcome. On Tuesday, when the rest of the staff was having lunch, he asked her to reconsider the matter, but she declined. He remarked, "This is the end, or something like that. Witness was upset and left the office for a few minutes. On returning she discovered the body in the strongroom. ■ , The evidence showed that Wedde shot himself through the left breast with a pea rifle bullet.
