(Special to the "Evening Post.") NELSON, November 8. Kcference to the death of the late Mr. Philip Best was made today at the monthly meetings of* the Nelson Hospital Board and Nelson Harbour Board, on both' of , which bodies ' Mr. Best served for long terms. The public positions held by Mr. Best, extending over many years, comprised:—Member of the Appleby School Committee for 10 years, several as chairman; membe;'of the Nelson Education Board, 10 years; Richmond Eoad Board, 3 years; Stoke Koad Board, about 12 years, several as chairman; Nelson Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, 13 years Nelson College Governors, 20 years; Nelson Harbour Board, 9 years; Nelson Licensing Committee, 23 years; Waimca County Council, 37 years, 18 Years as chairman; Cawthron Trust Board, 2 years; Highways District Council, 5 years as chairman. He was also on the Socks Koad Committee all the time it was in existence. Ho belonged to the Valuation Department for many years, and for 40 years was a Justice of the Peace. Mr. Best and the late Mr. William Coleman took the initial steps in reviving the Nelson A. and P. Association and Mr. Best, who was the first chairman, was a member up to the time of Ms death. Ho was also a member of the Nelson Provincial Progress League for many j . The College Council of Governors has accepted a tender for £898 for the reconditioning and strengthening of the Scriptorium, which has not been used since the 1929 earthquake. It was also decided to proceed with panelling the interior of the Scriptorium -on the same design as th» in the college houses. ,
