' r' In a race from Christchurch each pigeon was liberated singly at 10 minutes intervals by Mr. G. Robertson, a Christchurch fancier. A meritorious performance was put up by Messrs. Murphy and _ Sherwood's "Aeroplane" in doing the journey in 4hr 9min 59sec and winning by nearly half an hour. By winning this race Messrs. Murphy and Sherwood did the "hat trick. The winner receives a miniature cup donated by F. Sanders. The following were the only birds %o time-in:—Murphy ' and Sherwood's "Aeroplane," 4hr 9min 59sec, 1; C.
