AMAZING TESTS
NEW CIEEVA ATJTOGIKO
FASTER THAN FIXED WING AEROPLANE
United Press Association—By Electric graph—Copyright(Received November 1, 2 p.m.) LONDON, October 31. The "Daily Herald" states that the new Cierva Autogiro has passed remarkable tests at Hanworth aerodrome. Its top speed is now actually higher than that of fixed wing aeroplanes _of the same horse-power,, The machine not only reached 120 milos an hour at Hanworth, but hung absolutely stationary for several seconds. It left the ground with a run of less than ten yards. When the Air Ministry approves the niachine production will start on a commercial basis, and the«new Autogiros should be ready in April.
