AIR FORCE BAND
KINGSFORD SMITH OPENS FUND
' A movement is on foot by interested citizens to raise sufficient funds to purchase the instruments for the formation of a New Zealand Air Force Band. Committees are being formed in various centres to be known as ' 'The Friends of the Air Force" committee, who will organise a drive for the necessary funds. / * Sir Charles Kingsf ord Smith is associated with the moyement, an^ has opened the fund with a substantial donation. Arrangements are being made to elect patrons of the band, and Mr. H. M. McKay, managing director of New Zealand Airways, has been appointed the first South Island patron. ,The organisers of the movement expect to have the full amount required in hand by the end of the year. l
