Acceptance of an invitation to send a team to New Zealand was made and announced by the Australian Board of Control some thno ago. It was subject to certain conditions, and it is understood that negotiations with a view to bringing about an arrangement satisfactory to both parties to the tour have been proceeding. The hope has been expressed that the team would include at least somo of tho players who are to represent Australia in England next year, but, as has been pointed out in "The Post," it will probably be too much of a rush for those players to undertake a visit to New Zealand so close upon their departure for England. Somo, however, may bo prepared to come. The team for England is not being announced until the beginning of February, and that for New Zealand should bo made known before then, so that the possibility is that they may be entirely different teams.

Mention of the tour to New Zealand is made by tho cricket editor of the Sydney "Kofcree" in touching upon business to bo considered at tho next meeting (special) of the Board of Control, called to deal with tho M.C.C. reply, as has been indicated previously. He mentions that the meeting is to tako place in Melbourne on November 16, and suggests, in regard to the bodylino controversy, that nothing of siguiiicanco may come out of the meeting. Ho proceeds: "Possibly, after going to tho expense of holding the meeting the board may find other matters to deal with. For instance, one would like to see tho projected tour by an Australian team to New Zealand brought forward. If a reply has been received from New Zealand to tho board's decision at. tho Sydney meeting it cou'.d 'bo dealt with, and perhaps something like finality determined on. If the New Zealand authorities have not yet communicated further with the board, one would suggest their doing so. I believe a very interesting team likely to play more attractive cricket could be organised to tour New , Zealand after the Sheffield Shiold games have ended. This project seems to hinge on the New Zealand official view." '

So far as the povsonncl of the team is concerned the view here, of course, is that some of the top-notch cricketers should come, but whether they will be able to do so is another nutter. In any ease, tin; team should bo a strong one.
