LEE V. MALFROY
A member of the visiting English tennis team, H. G. N. Lee, was seen in action this afternoon against C, E. JMalfroy, the New Zealander, who defeated Perry, the crack English player .'it Dunedin this week. Those privileged to witness this exhibition match, which consisted of two sets played on the Thorndon School court, were tennis en■thnsiasts from the principal primary arid second schools of Wellington, There were about 800 children present. Members of the Wellington Education Board end others interested were also present. Some brilliant tennis was seen in tho '.first set, which, was won by Lee 7-5. Tho Englishman, who appeared to be more fit than his opponent, settled down very quickly, and the difference between them in tho first set was largely the jneasure of his greater accuracy. All .strokes were exploited by both players, and both, displayed good court-covering ability. An outstanding feature of Malfroy's play was his drop-shots, and iiis service appeared to trouble Lee on occasions. The second set was won by Malfroy, &*>• ' ,
