MINING VENTURE
THE COLLINGWOOD AREA
(Special to the "Evening Post.")
NELSON,.October 19. . Considerable excitement prevails in mining circles in the Collingwood area owing to a definite move made by a Christchurch company which has obtained options over well-known properties at Parapara. The centre of interest is Eyre Bros.' claims, composed mostly of virgin ground, where the owners, have been working steadily for some- years past with considerable success. Various mining interests have moved to secure options over these properties without succoss, but the Christchurch company has reached its desired goal, and early, developments are expected..
It is intended to obtain the necessary i.atei' supply from the Parapara Eiver at a cost of £.6000. There now seems a prospect that Collingwood will again come into its own as one of the main gold-producing centres of the Dominion. The country to the south, cover-, ing such well-known areas as Golden Gully, Slate Biver, Lightband's Gully, and Bedstead, and other prolific goldproducing areas of former days forms a background to the new undertaking.
