The Bishop of Nelson, • Dr. Sadlier, has given notice to the Archbishop of his impending resignation. '. Theltt. Eev. William Charles Sadlieiy M.A., D.D., who has been. Bishop of i INclson since 1912, was born near Bran- | tlon, County Cork, Ireland, on May 29, i 1867, and came out to Australia. After a business li£o extending over four or ilvo years he was accepted as a candidate for Holy Orders, and entered Trinity College, Melbourne, in 1888. He was ordained in St. Paul's Gathodral, Melbourne, in 1891, and was appointed to the ehargo of the district of Pyramid Hill, whero he remained for a year; He then became diocesan curate in Bendigo till 1899. He took the B.A. degree, Melbourne University, in 1894, and his M.A. degree in 1896. From 1897 to 1899 ho was principal of Perry Hall Theological College, and then was appointed to Holy Trinity Church. East' Melbourne. In 1901, When, only 3-1 years of age, he was appointed Canon of St. Paul's Cathedral, Melbourne. In 1904 he paid a visit to England, and on his return to Melbourne' was appointed Vicar of Christ Church, St. Kilda. In 1909 ho took his B.D. degree at London UnivnrHtty, and at Lambeth in 3918 lie ■utis given his D.D. In 1895 ho married Miss Edith Livoslcy, daughter of 'Mr. William. Livesley,. a civil servant.
