Mr. Ericsson- explained that, on instructions from' a representative of the Cycling Council, the ex-secretary- of the Cycling Centre had not yet handed over certain possessions, and from this it seemed that an effort was being made to hold up the race. However, the race was to proceed, and it was confidently expected, ho said, that most of the entrants would take "part. He was definite on the point that the Auckland entrants would be competing. "The council," he said, "appears to be putting every obstacle in our way, but we will go ahead. Wo are ready for a breakaway. They are asking for it, and they will get it. If the New Zealand Cycling Council is going to disqualify us, we will form a League of AVheolmen and run our own races."
