Tho American Bankers' Association today announced that in the last fiscal year the banks and trust companies of tho United States lost 2,402,000 dollars as the result of -516 hold-ups and 95 burglaries.. During the previous year there were 554 hold-ups and 78 burglaries with a total loot of 3,568,000; dollars. Criminals, bank' employees, and bystanders killed or wounded during the bank robberies or attempts during 1933 were 281, compared with ■ 176 ia the previous year. , : The reduction in bank robbery statistics is explained by the fact thaf over 16 per cent, of the banks remaine' closed in the period.
