GENERAL GODLEY RETIRING
LONDON, October 18. The retirement from the Army of General Sir Alexander Godley is announced.
Sir Alexander Godley, who has been Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Gibraltar since 1928, was born in 1867. He was General Officer commanding the New Zealand military forces from 1910 to 1914, when he left with the Main Body of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force for Egypt. After the war Sir Alexander was appointed Com-mander-in-Chief of the British Army on the Ehiue, and subsequently Com-mander-in-Chief of the British .Southern Command. '
