NEW STEAMER SERVICE
It was announced in "The Post" last month that the Sydney shipping firm of H. C. Sleigh had purchased the Norwegian steamer Nord for the. pur-1 pose of engaging in trade between Australia and New Zealand. Tho Nord is reported to have arrived at Melbourne last Friday with a <Jargo of Baltic timber from Europe. Holm and Company, who will act as local agents for the vessel, have: been advised that, when she has completed discharge, tho Nord will be fitted with extra cargo gear and will have alterations made to her accommodation. This work will probably take about a fortnight, after which the vessel, under tho new name of Abel Tasman, will load at Sydney for New. Zealand ports. It is not expected that she will arrive •■ in the Dominion before the end of' September;
