(Beceived August 25, .11 a.m.) . .-..'.■. LONDON, August 24. At.Scarborough, in the North of Eng; land tennis championships, third round of singles, Stedman (N.Z.) brought off a surprise defeat of the title-holder, G. Lyttelton Rogers, the Irish giant, 5-7, 6-3, 6-3.
George Lyttclf on "Bogers is twentyscyeii years'of .age,'and has represented Ireland in the Davis-Cup on a number of occasions. Among his victims at various times have been H. Cochet (in the final of the South of Franco singles), J. B. Crawford (in a Davis Cup match), and H. E. Vines (in the American singles). Bogers also played a five-set match with Tilden just before the American began as a professional. He has won the West of England championship three times, the South of England championship, and reached the final of the British hard court singles.
