LORD CHILSTON FOR MOSCOW

LONDON, August 8. The "Manchester Guardian" understands that Lord Chilston is to be the new Ambassador to Moscow. Lord Chilston has been British Minister at Budapest since 1928. He was formerly captain of the 3rd Battalion Royal Scots, and became an attache in the Diplomatic Service in 1898; he served at Cairo, and was third secretary in 1900. He alsed served at Madrid, Constantinople^ and Athens, becoming second secretary. in 1905. Lojd Chilston was appointed acting agent and Consul-General at Sofia in 1907, and after distinguishing himself in his capacity as the secretary of Embassy at Vienna in the years 1909 to 1914, he occupied the position as diplomatic secretary to the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs during 1919. Latterly, he filled the positions of British Minister at Vienna, 1921-27, and Consul-" General in 1927.
