TWO MEN KILLED
INSPECTING A WELL
ENGULFED IN SAND
(Received August 9, 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Two men, Harold Drummey, aged 30,' and Thomas Stewart, 23, were killed while inspecting a well near Nyngan, The timbers lining the walls collapsed and torrents of sand engulfed them. The tragedy occurred about a hundred feet from the surface. Stewart was completely buried by the first fall, which enveloped Drummey to the waist. Desperate efforts were made to rescue Drummey, but he finally disappeared under a huge rush of sand. A third i man had just left the well when the accident occurred.
